Saturdays (Plus Midweek Sessions - See below)
Fair Oak Juniors is more than just a Squash and Racketball section within our club. We provide activities and coaching from children aged 4 years old up to 18 years old, from complete beginners (some who can't hit a ball) to national champions! ALL children are made welcome. All our sessions have a balance between 'fun' and 'development'. Including a variety of skills, and games, with safety paramount at all times. Our aim is to introduce children to a healthy sport for life.
The majority of our juniors come along because they just enjoy playing squash, from complete beginners to more committed players. We also cater and coach numerous players at County standard, some of which have moved onto 'Regional' Standard, and we recently had 3 national junior champions!
Our coaches range from level 1 to level 3 coaches - all qualified, DBS checked, and some first aid trained. We also have some parent helpers (mostly adult team players) who come along and help extend our 'elite' group and provide opportunities for children aged 14 or over to help (part of their DofE award). Our Child Safeguarding and Protection Officer Neil Piper is contactable email@example.com
Currently our Saturday mornings are divided as follows:
9am – 10am (£3) – young beginners.
10am – 11am (£3) – older beginners
11am – 12pm (£3) – Intermediate players
12pm – 1.20pm (£4) – Advanced players
1.20pm – 2.40pm (£5) – Elite players
We use the “Off the Wall” squash for junior progress awards to guide our coaching and junior development.
We have also signed up with England Squash’s junior initiative called “Squash Stars”. This enables beginners aged 5-9 to obtain a t-shirt, racket and goggles and their first 6 weeks of coaching – see www.squashstars.co.uk for the next course start date.
Otherwise, if you want to get your child started at squash - either write to Neil Piper at firstname.lastname@example.org or turn up Saturday morning for a FREE TASTER SESSION.
We provide coaching every week school is open. We do not have Saturday morning coaching during school holidays. Parents - Stay and watch - Free tea and instant coffee!
For players who would like to develop faster / play more frequently or who can't get to the club at the appropriate time on a Saturday, we also run sessions on a Monday and Wednesday early evening. Contact the junior coordinator to find out more about these sessions.
